FUNDRAISING
Box Top Labels: Organizes collection and redemption of General Mills Box-top coupons. Runs occasional classroom contests. Cash4Class: Attend monthly meeting at Westfield Oakridge Mall, distribute flyers, collect receipts and promote program. eScrip/Grocery Store Cards: Coordinates with local grocery stores that offer a percentage of purchases to be donated to a specific local school. Manages purchase and distribution of eScrip. Promotes programs to Glider Community. Family Nights: Coordinate or oversee the coordination of monthly family dinner nights with PFA approval. Submit info to PFA newsletter. Glider Wear: Coordinate the selection, offering, ordering & distribution of school shirts, sweatshirts, etc. Teacher/Staff Retention: Coordinates and plans Teacher Appreciation Lunch in May and monthly special recognition thank you for all our Glider teachers and staff do for our children and PFA group. Walk-a-Thon: Coordinates all aspects of annual sponsored walk. Supplies, Small or Individual: Coordinates teacher needs with acquisition and funding for basic classroom materials. |
COMMUNITY
Room Parent: Work with your child's classroom teacher to see how you can help Boo-hoo Breakfast/ 6th Grade Family Picnic: Assist with planning, decorations, set up, serving and clean up. Harvest Festival: a “fun”raiser for the the Glider community. Coordinate with staff and parent volunteers fun activities for the school. Family Movie Night at Glider: Assist with obtaining movie license, researching movie options and planning the event. Submit information for newsletter, make copies, hang posters, and greet at event. Community Outreach: Research and coordinate “drives” with organizations such as Second harvest, Sacred heart, one warm coat , etc. to set up drives at Gliders. Glider Cultures Group: Be a guest speaker or share information on your culture, travels, talent, skills, crafts, or professional experience for our Annual Celebration of Cultures. Hospitality Coordinate refreshments for PFA meetings; attend PFA meetings and welcome new parents. Promote the PFA and recruit new members. Yearbook Design and publication of yearly remembrance book for students. Committee members needed to take photos throughout the school year, and assist with yearbook assembly. Campus Safety: Assists in acquisition and maintenance of standard on-site safety equipment (e.g. survival kits, code-red covers, etc.). Coordinates morning crossing guards. DAC: District Advisory Committee representative is appointed by the principal. Represents Glider at monthly meetings with the Superintendent and reports back to the PFA. |
CONTENT AREAS
Book Fair: Coordinates Fall and Spring Scholastic Book Fairs as decided by the PFA. Book-of-the-Month: Coordinates subjects and purchases for Principal's Book-of-the-Month program Science Camp: Coordinates activities related to 6th Grade Science Camp including fundraising, transportation, scholarship requests etc. OTHER
Technology:
Acquires and manages equipment for computer and other electronic needs. Works with teachers to keep computers functioning. Glider Guys: Group of men that help out with Glider events such as BBQ at Harvest Festival and 6th grade picnic, help with set up of events including Walk-a-thon, tech Saturdays, and other events as needed. This group has no meeting! Newsletter Solicits input for and produces weekly/monthly PFA newsletter as determined by PFA members needs. Publication is distributed in students' Monday white envelopes. Supplies, Large or Community: Researches, acquires and maintains large capital items used by entire school. Website Maintain and monitor school website and webmaster email. |
ENRICHMENT
Assemblies: Investigate assemblies available, communicate findings to teachers for interest and PFA for approval & funding, arrange for approved assemblies with principal approval regarding timing and subject matter, and coordinate parent support as needed. Field Trips: Works with Principal Harris and teachers to ensure funding is provided for class trips and assists with any necessary planning. |
